About Da Siu Yan
Who we are
Da Siu Yan is built and run by Twelvefold Limited, a small software studio in Hong Kong that turns quirky corners of local culture into carefully made digital products.
Why villain hitting
Villain hitting is one of Hong Kong's most alive folk customs: the White Tiger rite at Jingzhe joined the city's intangible cultural heritage list in 2014, and TIME named it Asia's "Best Way to Get It Off Your Chest" back in 2009. But not everyone can queue under Goose Neck Bridge in Causeway Bay — people live overseas, work odd hours, or just want a session at midnight. Everyone deserves a complete ceremony.
So we rebuilt it from the folklore up: the eight steps, the chants, the White Tiger, the bean-scattering and the closing moon blocks, each detail checked against field reports, heritage documentation and bridge-side records. You can read what we found across our culture pages and guides.
Our principles
- Respect the folklore — steps, chants and taboos are presented as documented, never improvised beyond recognition.
- Privacy first — the ritual runs on your device; names are never uploaded.
- No miracle claims — this is a cultural experience and an emotional outlet, and we say so plainly.
- A clean experience — no ads, no account, works offline.
